Clabough’s campground wasn’t always a campground, it started as a 50 acre Civil War Veteran’s farm… as time moved on the farm transferred to one of his son’s and later to the remaining son., Harold As popularity of the Smoky Mountains grew so did business opportunities and in 1980 Harold started building the Campground, officially opening in 1981. Gradually, Harold acquired more land building the store that still operates today.

Harold was a sharp businessman seeing Clabough’s Campground grow from 83 to 116 sites and then 150 as more property was added. Today, Clabough’s Campground, provides 325 camping sites, cabins and cottages.  While day-to-day operations are handled by the younger family members, the campground still operates under Harold’s philosophy “you never hurt someone else to help yourself”.  Through hard work, dedication to customers,  and this very philosophy Clabough’s Campground continues to flourish today to the delight of thousands of campers every year.
