The Trout and Smallmouth are biting, and the crowds are gone!
West Prong of the Little Pigeon & Middle Prong of the Pigeon:
With the crowds gone, we have had some nice catches and a few big Trout as well. The fishing has been fair for numbers and size of Trout in the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon & West Prong of the Little Pigeon in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area.
Little Pigeon River and the Big Pigeon River: The bite is beginning to come on strong!
The Smallmouth bite has slowed, but we are still catching some nice Smallies with an occassional lunker. Try using small minnow baits such as rapalas. If there is no aciton, try using grubs or tubes in variations of Green Pumpkin or Junebug colors. For those dreaming of Big Smallies, April and May are locallly know to be the best months to go after those big Smallies.
The Holston River: Behind the Cherokee Lake Dam the Holston River Trout and Smallies have been biting. Try fishing the tailwaters behind the dam on down to Nance`s Ferry using a 1/8 oz or 1/4 oz spinner either black or brown, or small grubs, and be sure to hit the deep holes below the Dam, as they are holding some nice size Trout.
The Smallmouth bite on the Holston River is fair using rapala type jerkbaits and grubs or spinner. Decent numbers right now and the possibility of catching a trophy Smallie or Trout any time.
Clinch River Report: The Clinch behind Norris Dam has been fair to good depending on conditions. It usually hasn`t taken long to get a limit and we`ve had some nice Browns and Rainbows in the mix using flies or small minnow baits lately.
French Broad River Report: You can catch quality fish as well as numbers on the French Broad River behind Douglas Dam, especially from the Hwy 66 Bridge onto the 7 Islands area. Try using brown, black or white spinners in 1/8oz to 1/4 oz, crankbaits or jerkbaits. There are some good Smallies as well as Largemouth fishing, with April through Sept being prime months to fish the French Broad.
We encourage others to pass on their fishing information and we will add as much as we can. Please be sure to add
