Norris Lake Fishing Reports
Jan 23, 2012
Largemouth & Smallies,
On Norris Lake the water temps are ranging in the low to mid 40`s over most of the lake, with lightly stained on the lower end to murky colored water conditions on the upper end of the river arms. Bass have been fair this past week on the Clinch River Arm of the Lake from the Andersonville area up to Point 30 above Brogan`s Ramp. Catches averaged from 8 to 12 fish per day and size ranging from one pound to an occasional 5+ smallie or largemouth. We`re doing best on 200 & 300 series Bandits or jerkbaits on lead in banks or points close to deepwater. With balde baits, dropshot rigs, hair jigs producing best for us if they are not biting the cranks. Look for the fish to be feeding on long tapering points, channel ledges or humps in the main channel or creek channels.
Crappie,
For Crappie try fishing brush piles in 5 to 20feet with jigs or minnows. Also try creek channel points, bluffs or humps with a bobber, fly & minnow set anywhere from 5 to 15 ft depending on conditons. And remember to try different colors daily, as it can change quickly. But try using darker colors on cloudy days or heavliy stained waters, and lighter colors if the it`s Sunny.
On the Powell side , eventhough we mainly fish the Clinch River Arm of the lake. We have also had reports of good catches fishing the same patterns.
We encourage others to pass on their fishing information and we will add as much as we can. Please be sure to add
